This flower is so unique in textures, layers and design that it is the perfect conversation piece for any room. Or blow it up BIG and get lost in it, maybe meditating on it's very existence. Macro of a Liliquoi Flower grown on the Big Island of Hawaii. Liliquoi is the Hawaiian name for Passion Flower or Passion Fruit.
I have a friend that said these grew behind her house in the ally when she was litle. They are so surreal and "out of the world" looking that she was afraid to even walk down the ally. I think they are so interesting and beautiful. They just fascinate me. I love the fruit so much (especially to make into syrup for our waffles), that I wanted to try growing them in our yard. For years we had no luck because there is some sort of bug that loves them as much as I do. A couple of years ago we had gotten several lilikoi and kept the seeds. My husband then planted them all along the cow fence (they sometimes run cows on the property behind our house) and they grew so fast that the bugs couldn't eat them fast enough to kill them. I couldn't wait for the flowers to come on as I have always wanted to get some macro shots of them. They came, and they came, and they came and I shot and I shot and I shot again. I had to narrow it down to just these three so far. I wanted to leave this one as a square because sometimes you just need a square piece of art.
